Concept of a Single Data File - PowerGrade
|
When PowerGrade is installed on a computer, a datafile is created on that computer. If you are connected to your PowerSchool server by the internet or an ethernet network, as you use PowerGrade, and especially when PowerGrade is closed, data you have created or changed is not only saved on the local datafile, it is backed up to the PowerSchool server.
If your are working off-line, the next time your computer is able to communicate with the PowerSchool server, information is exchanged and backed up on the server.
If you were to use PowerGrade, and the resulting datafile, on multiple machines, the danger of overwriting data becomes very great. While there are strategies for using multiple datafiles, PowerSchool does not support their use. Your local technology support may set up and allow use of one or more of these strategies, but use multiple datafiles judiciously and with great care.

Sharing a Computer With Another Teacher...
Sometimes you may need to share a computer, and PowerGrade, with another teacher. To accomplish this you must each have a datafile. For information on how to do this, click here.
