Importing Standard Scores from a Previous Year
with Quicktime Movie Tutorials

Teachers have asked if we could provide access to last year's standards grades for this years students. So, we exported scores from last year's Trimester 3 and imported them into Trimester 1 of this year. In that way, teachers could see how their students were evaluated at the end of last year. Of course, current teachers can change this year's T1 grades. Below are several movies which illustrate the process. Depending on your connection speed, these movies may take a while to download. They will start automatically. If you have a PC, you may have to download Apple's Quicktime player.

As always, we recommend you do this type of work on a training server before trying it on your actual PowerSchool Server. Please allow time for the movies to load.

As I indicate in the movie, you will need to export the following fields, assuming you've chosen "TransAverageScore" in which to store your standards scores:

Comment
DateStored
ID (You do not need this field, though I imported it when I created the movies)
SchoolID
StandardsID
StoreCode
StudentID
TransAverageScore
YearID

Once you have your export file, save it on your desktop and open it in Excel.

Next, you'll need to prepare the Excel file.

If you aren't sure of the YearID, look at Start Page > School Setup > Years & Terms > Term Setup > Edit Term (You only need the the first 2 digits of the number. Use "15" not 1500, for example.

Finally, you'll import the newly created file back into PowerSchool.
