Showing an Incomplete in a Term Column - PowerGrade
| An Incomplete designation, or any other special designation, has to be manually entered into the Term Column from the Dropdown menu. (right) See here. The problem arises that by default, the designation for Incomplete does not show in the dropdown menu.
The information below will show you how to get designations into this list. The default for Incomplete is usually a letter "I", no quotes, which in my mind is too easily confused with a "1" - letter one.
The designation name, such as using "inc", has to be made at the administrator level of PowerSchool.

| 1. Open PowerGrade |
| 2. Choose the desired class from the Classes menu (A).
| 3. Choose the Windows Menu (A). |
| 4. Pick Grade Scale from the dropdown menu. |
| 5. Drag down to see the "I" (A) for incomplete.
Note that the designation may be different depending on the way your local PowerSchool Administrator has the program set up.
If there is not a designation for incomplete, in most cases it will have to be added at the PowerSchool Administrator level unless permissions have been given to teachers to create or edit grade scales.

Select the Incomplete line |
Grade: The name is designated by the PowerSchool Administrator. See my thoughts here. |
Cuttoff: Set the minimum percentage for scores or totals required to receive this grade. It is common to use a 0 "zero" for the cuttoff for an incomplete. |
Values: If you use letter rather than number grades, enter the numeric value of the selected grade. For example, if you give B+ the value of 88 and a student receives a B+ on an assignment, the letter grade appears in the gradebook but PowerGrade calculates 88% in the final grade.
It is common to use a 0 "zero" for the cuttoff for an incomplete. |
Description: Optionally enter a description. It is a good idea. -FC |
Make sure to "uncheck" Remove from gradescale. This will allow the designation for incomplete to appear in the dropdown list when you manually override grades. |
Click the Accept button when the cahanges have been made. |
| 6. After an assignment has been passed in, or what ever called for an incomplete has changed, remember to undo an override, see here, and the grade should calculate. |
| It is important to note that once grades have been "stored" on the Administrator side of PowerSchool, changing a grade in PowerGrade will have no effect on the grade in PowerSchool Historial records.
Likewise, if a stored grade is changed on the administrative side, the change will NOT be reflected in the teacher's PowerGrade.
There must be coordination between teacher and PowerSchool Administrator to synchronize grades after they have been stored.
