Student is Absent - Have Grade Count as Zero Until Made Up (PowerGrade)

1. Open PowerGrade
2. Choose the desired class (A) from the Classes menu.
3. Choose the File Menu (A).
4. Pick Preferences from the drop-down menu.

5. Select the Scores Tab (A)

6. Enter Absent in the Count as Zero column (A)

7. Click the OK button (B)

8. Enter Absent instead of a score. The score will average as a zero

If the student makes up the assignment, record the grade (in place of the Absent) and the spreadsheet will re-calculate, using the score.

Another common use of the Count as Zero function would be to add a "NHI" code to indicate a student has Not Handed In an assignment. The assignment would be averaged as zero until a new score replaces the the NHI.
