Scores Preferences in PowerGrade

1. Open PowerGrade
2. Choose the desired class (A) from the Classes menu.

Preferences are global and do not affect just the chosen class.

3. Choose the File Menu (A).
4. Pick Preferences from the drop-down menu.

5. Select the Scores Tab

Unrecorded scores are by default shown by ( ). Note that there are two spaces between the parenteses. The user can change the default setting to whatever they wish such as xx or { }.
Select how unrecorded grades will be calculated.

0 pts earned
Exempt
Unrecorded scored, by default ( ), - see (A) above - will count as a zero for any student without a grade recorded.
The zero score only occurs after any grades have been recorded in that column.
Scores are not counted against any student as long as the unrecorded symbol, ( ) by default, is in place, see (A) above.

Count as Exempt

Exempt scores will not be calculated in any student's grade. Enter text or symbols such as "sick", "excused", "exempt" (without the quotes) into this column. When the term is entered in the grading column it will not be involved in the calulation. Up to eight codes may be used.

Unrecorded scores will not be calculated in any student's grade. Enter text or symbols such as "late", "due" (without the quotes) into this column. When the term is entered in the grading column it will not be involved in the calulation. Up to eight codes may be used.

Note: PowerGrade's default code for unrecorded scores is "u" or "un". Any codes entered here supplement the default codes.

Example

Count as Zero

Enter text or symbols such as "Absent", "NPI" (Not Passed In) (without the quotes) into this column. When the term is entered in the grading column, it will calulated as a zero. Up to eight codes may be used.
